NH MEREDITH — The Waukewan Watershed Advisory Committee advances federal grant applications for lake pollution remediation while investigating septic systems as a pollution source. The committee unanimously approved August minutes and met with state environmental officials to finalize grant strategy: a 319 Grant focused on boat launch and ramp remediation, expanded to include Forrest Hill Road to strengthen the application. A Source Water Grant application is planned for November.
Septic system investigation is underway; Public Health Officer Jonathan Trull recently sent inquiry letters to seven septic system sites regarding mandatory re-certification, as septic systems are estimated to contribute approximately eight percent of phosphorus pollution entering Lake Waukewan.
