Select Board approves dam project storage plan

NH MEREDITH — Meredith Select Board advances Lake Waukewan Dam repair project. The board unanimously approved storage of 60-plus large piping sections at the old landfill, clearing the way for state-mandated dam outlet repairs to begin this fall. The 8 million dollar project, split between a 5.07 million dollar FEMA grant and private funding, requires the town to contribute 300,000 to 400,000 dollars from its Expendable Trust Fund.
Materials need 20-week lead time from Texas, with supply trucks carrying only three pipes each. The board also scheduled a public hearing for August 10 on Short-Term Rental licensing amendments, appointed Town Manager Milner as voting delegate to the New Hampshire Municipal Association policy conference on September 11, approved 495 dollars in tax interest abatements, and voted 3-1 with one abstention to freeze funding for the Economic Development consulting contract pending board strategy discussion.
