Meredith approves $350 annual commercial marine operator fee

Select Board · Meeting of June 8, 2026

NH MEREDITH — The Meredith Select Board unanimously approved a $350 annual permit fee for commercial marine operators using town boat launches. The vote came after a public hearing dominated by local business owners and residents questioning the program's fairness, definition, and enforcement. Chief Mike Harper recommended fees between $500 and $1,500; Selectperson Pelczar's motion passed unanimously with revenue directed to waterfront infrastructure.

The pilot program runs through at least summer 2027 while town staff studies ramp and dock conditions and repair costs. Competing voices sought to raise non-resident fees instead, but the board approved the commercial-user fee to address concentrated wear and tear.
