Select Board holds public forum on government structure change
Select Board · Meeting of May 18, 2026
NH MEREDITH — Meredith Select Board holds forum on government forms. Following a petition warrant article passed at town meeting, the board hosted public discussion on whether to switch from its current Town Manager system to a Town Administrator model. Select Board member Jeanie Forrester, who has served as a Town Administrator in other towns, outlined key differences: an administrator's authority can be delegated and revoked by the board, while a manager's authority is protected by state statute.
Town Manager Judie Milner defended the current system's professional focus. No decision was made; the board will invite outside speakers to a second forum planned for fall 2026.
