Conservation Commission approves warrant articles on conservation and forest

NH MEREDITH — Meredith Conservation Commission approves warrant articles to increase conservation funding and protect forest land. The commission approved two articles for the 2026 Town Meeting: one increasing Land Use Change Tax revenues deposited in the Conservation Fund from $50,000 to $100,000 annually, and another designating a 37.7-acre parcel off Meredith Neck Road as part of Page Pond Town Forest. Scott Powell will forward both to the Selectboard for review, and both articles are expected to receive board support.
The commission also discussed a proposed shoreline setback reduction from 65 to 50 feet and reaffirmed its opposition absent additional environmental protections.
